With half of the Eastern Conference tanking and one clearly dominant team in each conference, it's about time for the in-season trade activity to start ramping up. Look for some of the following guys to be on the move this season as their teams look to find young talent instead of competing this season.
Tom Burleson, Los Angeles Lakers
Center - 25 years old, 7'2", 233 lbs
9,000,000

32.2 23.5 12.4 2.1 1.2 1.5 1.4 .395 .733 .000
While John Lucas should have the most attractive contract on the team as a young PG with three years at less than 8 figures, it would help if the production was there for any competing team to see him as an upgrade, but that's not likely. Therefore, Burleson is the most likely guy to move out of LA this season. He's only going to be a one-year rental, but he provides excellent defense and good rebounding. His offense may scare some away, but the low percentage from the field is likely the result of him trying to do too much on a bad LA team that's tanking. Could potentially be a really solid pickup for a team looking to compete this season that needs to add a good defensive center.
Maurice Lucas, Denver Nuggets
Power Forward - 25 years old, 6'9", 220 lbs
$6,000,000 $6,000,000 $6,000,000 $6,000,000

While GM Jerry West has said in the past he's not inclined to move Mo Lucas, I think an offer presents itself down the stretch that entices him to finally pull the trigger. Lucas is a good scorer, but his defense is not great and his percentages could be better. I think he may be best suited as a third big that gets big minutes. Despite that, his contract makes him a great value, and I could see a contender giving Jerry a very good offer because of the value Lucas can provide this year and for several years to come. I could also see a contender making a move for Quinn Buckner to solidify their backup PG position, trading expirings for his contract so that Jerry can really kick his tank into overdrive and clear future cap.
Larry Kenon, New Orleans Pelicans
Power Forward - 24 years old, 6'9", 215 lbs
$11,000,000 $11,000,000
A- C C A- A- A
36.5 25.6 11.5 2.4 1.8 0.6 1.0 .499 .801 .000
I'm not really going out on a limb here since his name is currently at the top of the TMBSL trade block, but this might be the biggest prize of the trade deadline. Kenon is a solid young player, currently injured, but he provides efficient scoring and solid defense/rebounding while still having a bit of upside. His current contract is for another year and a half and will allow whichever team acquires him to have his Bird Rights when free agency hits, so trading for him is not incredibly risky. Pete Maravich and Campy Russell are also likely trade candidates for the Pellies, but Russell will be tough to match salaries and get a decent return with his expiring deal and Maravich has a prohibitive contract and must stay with New Orleans through at least Day 60 due to league trade rules.
Fred Boyd, New York Knicks
Point Guard - 27 years old, 6'2", 180 lbs
$1,200,000
C A- C+ B+ D C
31.4 20.5 3.7 4.7 0.7 0.2 1.5 .460 .775 .380
Boyd isn't going to be a starter on any team trying to contend, but with Skrouse trying his best to stay ahead of Tankopalypse 3001 in the East, I imagine he does his best to move anything productive out of New York. Like I said, Boyd isn't a starter on any good team because he's really an undersized shooting guard and he's limited as a creator for his sim teammates. However, he may have some value as a scorer for teams with poor backcourt depth. This could be a good value add for a team with limited assets.
Kevin Kunnert, Orlando Magic
Center - 25 years old, 7'0", 231 lbs
$6,000,000
B- C- C A- A- D
33.2 18.0 11.6 3.6 1.0 1.5 1.8 .380 .669 .000
Very similar to Tom Burleson in Los Angeles, Kunnert may be the perfect one-year rental for a team looking to add a little more post defense and rebounding. His offensive game is extremely limited, but he is a little bit cheaper than Burleson and the price tag is likely a little less steep. I could also see his teammate Nate Thurmond moving before the deadline to a team looking for a decent defender to add frontcourt depth.
Dave Twardzik, Toronto Raptors
Point Guard - 27 years old, 6'1", 180 lbs
$4,000,000 $4,000,000
C B B A C- B
38.0 23.9 4.8 7.1 1.6 0.1 2.0 .465 .854 .421
LMBO JK. Trading Dave Twardzik would require Tobias to actually check in on his team and fulfill the basic responsibilities of a TMBSL GM. Seriously, who invited this clown ass?
If he does decide to check in, Twardzik likely is on the move to a contender that needs PG depth and bench scoring. He's 27 and shouldn't be a part of the Raptors plans for the future, and having a PG this productive is really hurting their tanking efforts. I could also see the Raptors moving Norm Cook or Mike Green to contenders looking to find frontcourt contributors at a low price tag.
Billy Paultz, Charlotte Hornets
Center - 29 years old, 6'11", 250 lbs
$11,000,000 $11,000,000
B A- C A B- C
33.9 24.2 10.7 2.8 1.2 2.2 1.6 .441 .764 .409
Although he may not be a great rebounder for a center and could be more efficient from the field, Paultz is the only true deep threat at center in the league and he's a pretty good defender to boot. His contract will give his GM Bird Rights when he hits FA, but he's starting to get up there in age compared to most of the guys on this list. Because of RV's inability to compete in the non-competitive East, I think this is the most likely place we see a firesale this season. Expect offers on Brian Taylor and Calvin Murphy from teams seeking backcourt depth. I also see Jim Chones moving as he's a great value with B+ grades in all the big man categories on a multi-year deal at only $3MM.
