Dil's 3019 Big Board
Analysis
Analysis
1. Kevin Garnett PF/C 6'11" 220 19 B+ C- C B B A 100
- KG is the clear 1.1 imo. Obviously the top five guys are all elite. In a case where everyone is so close together, ranking them boils down to the little things. KG's age, size, potential, and handles put him slightly above the others. The Big Ticket is one of the best prospects we've ever seen. He has no weakness. The only way he busts is if soup intentionally pops his balloon.
2. Joe Smith PF/C 6'10" 225 20 B+ C- C- B B A 99
- The exact same prospect as KG except -2 inches, -1 handles, and +1 age. All of that is likely irrelevant but, like I said, it effects the rankings. Soup stated that he will bust either Smith or Garnett. I have no opinion on which one it is but it's worth the risk to take one due to their insane ceilings.
3. Rasheed Wallace PF/C 6'10" 225 21 B C D+ B B- A 99
- Sheed comes in at a hot 3rd place but with the same overall rating as Smith for me. I would have no problem with someone taking him at 1.2. Sheed, like the previous two prospects, has no weakness. Elite scoring, elite defense, very good rebounding, and very good size. If he has decent potential he's going to be a beast. I'm interested to see what his C jumper will look like.
4. Bryant Reeves C 7'0" 275 22 A- C- D+ B- B B 98
- Reeves is the most sure thing of the top five due to soup already saying he's going to beast him. The reason I don't have him higher is that soup also said that he's not inclined to giving 100 potential to guys with a listed B or C potential. While Reeves is guaranteed to be a rogue ape, I still think KG, Smith, and Sheed have higher ceilings.
5. Jerry Stackhouse SG 6'6" 218 21 B B- C C+ C A 98
- With those scoring grades and the lack of many elite SGs in our league, Stack could be the best scorer in this draft. His defense and rebounding are low but not low enough to be a weakness. I'm excited to see what's in his B inside. He's likely going to need to go to a GM that is active enough to pump points into his defense and possibly his jumper. Stack is one of the best prospects you could possibly get at 1.5.
6. Gary Trent PF 6'8" 250 21 B+ C- D+ C+ B B 94
- This is where we see a huge drop off in talent. Trent is a really good looking prospect but not on the same level as the top five. He's actually a really good pick at 1.6 but whoever has it will have a bitter taste in their mouth from missing out on the top five. Being short at PF has proven to not be an issue so I'm not worried about his height. The only question mark is his C+ defense. He has elite scoring and very good rebounding. He needs to go to a GM that will bump his defense up for his value to be maximized.
7. Antonio McDyess PF/C 6'9" 223 21 C+ D+ C- B+ B+ A 92
- A classic defensive/rebounding big. I'm a little worried about that C+ inside, hopefully it doesn't grow too much. I love Mcdyess's A potential. I could easily see him turning into an A/A guy especially if he's created as a PF. He'll be solid from day one.
8. Damon Stoudamire PG 5'10" 171 22 C+ B B C+ D+ B 90
- Tough luck if you need a PG in this draft because Damon is the only one. He could turn out to be really good with his outside and handles already being so good. This one will all boil down to his potential.
9. Kurt Thomas PF/C 6'9" 230 23 B+ C- C- B- B C 90
- Old man Kurt is going to be solid. He has great scoring grades and decent defense/rebounding grades. That C potential sucks but he's going to be able to contribute from day one so you can't really complain. He could get a defense boost at C if he's created as a PF.
10. Michael Finley SF/SG 6'7" 215 22 B- C+ C+ C+ C B 87
- I'm a little disappointed in these grades. Kind of a meh prospect. Finley's success will be up to soup and that's definitely not a bad thing since Finley was a big time Maverick.
11. Greg Ostertag C 7'2" 280 22 C D+ D B+ B+ C 86
- Ostertag is another guy that will contribute from day one. The issue here is his potential. If he stays at B+/B+ then he's not even a third big on a contending team. If he can bump those up then he could be very valuable due to his low scoring grades.
12. SF #31 SF 6'8" 222 23 B C C- B+ C B 84
- Not sure what to make of this guy. B/C scoring for SFs can be elite or extremely mediocre. I get the feeling that soup doesn't like this guy but who knows. His defense is elite but his rebounding blows. I'm excited to see what name soup gives him.
13. Alan Henderson PF/C 6'9" 235 23 B+ C- D+ C+ B C 84
- Another B+/C- guy. He's very similar to Gary Trent but with less potential. He could probably go higher than this but there's so many B+/C- guys in this class that you can't make them all good. Like the others, he'll be a solid scorer immediately with a chance to be a great scorer.
14. Corliss Williamson SF/PF 6'7" 245 22 B+ C- C- C+ B- B 82
- Woo pig. His value significantly changes based on what position he's created at. He falls in the same analysis as all of the other B+/C- guys in this class. Get that defense up son.
15. Brent Barry SG 6'6" 185 24 B B- C B- C- C 81
- I love Brent Barry.
