Welcome to the second annual 2Poor's pets power rankings. I thought last year went pretty well, and if GBG doesn't bump this thread every day demanding a new set of rankings, maybe I'll update it multiple times this year.
1. The Oklahoma City Thunder- I'm confident this will be much closer to their end of season rankings than I was last year. Aaron Harrison is officially Odin's middle finger to the league on his way out of being a commissioner. QRich is a big downgrade from MJ at the 2 guard, but ultimately I don't think it will matter. Pencil this team in for 65 wins and another title.
2. The Phoenix Suns- Ank flirted with the idea of tearing down the GOAT regular season backcourt after another incredible playoff bed shitting, but he has rolled it back, which I think was the correct decision. At some point they have to stop losing in the most terrible possible fashion, right?
3. The Brooklyn Nets- Brooklyn finally had its breakthrough playoff run last season. I don't see any reason to think they can't run to the finals again, but do they actually have a shot in the finals with Oscar or Harrison torturing Threatt for fun all series long?
4. The Washington Bullets- Losing Champ might actually be a good thing for Washington, as it means more shots for Bledsoe. Bledsoe and Pierce are probably the
east's best inside-outside duo.
5. The Los Angeles Clippers- I hope dirt doesn't take this 5th overall ranking as disrespect. The Clippers announced to the league last year that there was nothing fluky about that title, but their title defense was cut short by a Dutch Burch injury. Fazekas at SG remains a revelation, and I expect this team to mash the boards and foul out opposing big men all season long.
6. The Charlotte Hornets- we learned this offseason that rv has learned literally nothing from the Billy Paultz saga, as he went full skrouse on every free agent he had. That doesn't mean this team can't make a run at the title, but age and increasing salaries probably means this is the last year that the Hornets' championship window is open a crack.
7. The Philadelphia 76ers- Allen is gone, but Conley and Admiral are still here, and new arrivals Pee Wee Kirkland and Bob Pettit insure that fason's chances at bringing that hairstyle back to shout isn't over.
8. The Kansas City Kings- This offseason was a definite step back in the short term for 20s, as he traded Marbury for a king's ransom. He has Lance and Gottfried signed forever now though, and a bunch of picks and young talent he can either develop or move to get a Starbury replacement alpha dog.
9. The Toronto Raptors- Things are getting a little creaky in Toronto, but Porzingis is still here, and his presence alone means Toronto is going to be a scary team this year. Sam Young looks like a real find who should pair with Kristaps as a dynamic wing tandem for years to come.
10. The Portland Trailblazers- I expect this to be a fairly controversial ranking, as most people will probably think I overrated the hell out of this team. But I think the perimeter group of Curry, Allen, Ellis, Wilkens and Drum will bomb from 3 at a high proficiency all season, and the bigs will do just enough to make this a scary looking team.
11. The Minnesota Timberwolves- Gilliam was a casualty of cap space this offseason, and I guess He who must not be named is planning on shifting Stanley over to the SF spot. The bigs are great, the guard spots are shaky.
12. The Milwaukee Bucks- I'm not too into AI as a PG, but he does represent a substantial upgrade over what trofie was trotting out at point after the Threatt trade last season. Blair, Buds and AI should be enough to make the Bucks a serious playoff contender in what looks like a weaker east after the last couple seasons.
13. The Utah Jazz- Maybe this is also way too high, but it feels right to me. Marbury and Blake are in the conversation for best inside-outside duo outside of OKC, and the rest of the starting lineup should do just enough to rack up a bunch of wins this season, although I would be surprised if they made any real noise in the playoffs.
14. The Houston Rockets- This one could end up being way low, but after the top 2 the west is just a giant clusterfuck. I was still really high on Houston last year but then they ended up with the 7th seed. There are a lot of good players here, but they might not fit together that well. Wilt and Kaminsky both want to play center, Nash and JR both want to play PG.
15. The Golden State Warriors- Losing Lex Drum really hurts this team, I just don't think Iggy is a starting caliber SG on a playoff contender. I'm also not sure if Horford can replicate what he did last year. Okafor and Shakur mean this team can't fall too far, but I'm not sure how high the ceiling is.
16. The Miami Heat- Canes swears up and down Jennings is a really good PG, but I'm skeptical. I think that's going to be a real problem for Miami this year.
17. The Indiana Pacers- Jerry heard the complaints and actually made some moves. I really liked the Nash trade, but then he pooped on it by giving up a promising young guard for a player that Herb was trying to give away for free.
18. The Memphis Bobcats- It looks like Odin is on tilt, and is actively trying to tear this one down. Pee Wee just got sent out, and I wonder if Turner will follow.
19. The Orlando Magic- Buck looks like a worthy successor to Reef, but a lot of the rest of this roster is old, or just not developing the way mj would have wanted. Mudiay remains in backup hell. He's going to go down as the one of the ultimate "what if" stories in all of 4.0 IMO
20. The Chicago Bulls- I was way wrong on the Bulls last year, and now that I look at this roster I might be way wrong again, but in the opposite direction. If Sheed is the player I believe he will be, bruns has stumbled into a pretty talented starting 5. This roster probably needs more seasoning/points/TCs so that Sheed and Brick can blossom into solid contributors, but Chicago could arrive ahead of schedule and kick down the playoffs door this year.
21. The Seattle Supersonics- if yawn was fully invested, this team would be in the playoffs. Herb, Ty, Bagaric, and even Gladyr are nice looking players who would be even nicer with a full set of upgrades.
22. The Denver Nuggets- for the love of god, GBG, just give Bankz his picks for Keaney. It makes so much sense for both of you.
23. The New York Knicks- I should just rename this tier the eric tier and put a picture of Kina instead of Lemmy. He will be here every year until he gets fired.
24. The Cleveland Cavaliers- heel's roster says Teddy tier, but his lack of having a first round pick this year says Lemmy tier.
25. The Atlanta Hawks- I don't think rw is going to be able to snag top lotto odds again. Zeke looks like he's going to be an overwhelming PG, and nothing ruins a tank faster than having a top tier PG.
26. The Boston Celtics- #dumptank is the new #bankztank. Dump has an entire roster of decent looking players, but nothing that seems good enough to encourage him to stop trying to lose.
27. The San Antonio Spurs- I expect this to be the season that Ronald Savage officially declares to the league "come get some, haters," and positions himself as the next elite wing in 4.0. Chambers and Finley could be something, but the rest of the roster is smelly garbage. Can you guys believe Chalky still has 2 years on his deal?
28. The Los Angeles Lakers- I like Harden and I really like Tobi. Mostly though, this roster is just very sad. I don't know if Buster drafted a single bust in all of 2.0, he was pulling gems out of the late first every year. What happened to that guy?
29. The Couv- druce should coast to #1 odds this year. This team is horrible. There aren't many guys I would even want coming off my bench on this team.
