Cuban Report Draft Grades
Good afternoon sim GMs! We're happy to bring to you another installment of the much anticipated Cuban Report Draft Grades.
This year the Report's grades are a little shorter than normal as a significant number of teams selected only a single second round player. We apologize in advance to the GMs whose draft did not receive a grade. All complaints about this new policy can be sent via private message to our new intern, 2Poor.
Cavs – B+
You don’t get credit for selecting a prospect like KG at 1.1, especially when you fail to tank well enough and have to luck into the selection. Eric Williams is a nice pick-up at 2.9, though, and gets Heel bumped up to a solid passing grade.
1.1 Kevin Garnett PF 6'11'' 220 19 B+ C- C B B A
2.9 Eric Williams SF 6'8'' 220 23 B- C C B C A
Kings – A+
It takes some serious cajones to trade a star PG for 1.2, but Joe Smith is the type of prospect that makes that trade doable. Add in the additional picks and roleplayers 20s snagged and it looks like the Kings are reloaded for the foreseeable future.
1.2 Joe Smith PF 6'10'' 225 20 B+ C- C- B B A
2.28 Grunky Peep PF 6'10'' 245 21 C D+ D B C+ B
Hawks – A-
RW takes a beloved former Hoosier for a second year in a row and that fact is reflected in his grade. The rest of this class is decent looking and should net the Hawks at least 2 starters if you assume Stackhouse is a sure-fire starter.
1.3 Jerry Stackhouse SG 6'6'' 218 21 B B- C C+ C A
1.26 Alan Henderson PF 6'9'' 235 23 B+ C- D+ C+ B C

2.22 Troy Stith SF 6'7'' 227 22 C+ C+ C- C+ C- B
Bulls – A
‘Sheed looks great and one of Ratliff and Caffey should give Bruns the much-coveted defensive big.
1.4 Rasheed Wallace PF 6'10'' 225 21 B C D+ B B- A
1.15 Theo Ratliff C 6'10'' 230 22 C- D+ D+ B+ B B
2.6 Jason Caffey PF 6'8'' 255 22 C D+ D+ B B B
Grizzlies - F
Dammit, Druce! We want to give Druce a better grade, but we circulated an internal memo last week saying whomever drafted O’Bannon would get an automatic F. Sorry, Druce. We really like the draft and, objectively, like 1.17, too. Rules are rules though.
1.5 Bryant Reeves C 6'10'' 275 22 A- C- D+ B- B B
1.17 Ed O'Bannon SF 6'8'' 222 23 B C C- B+ C B

2.7 Mario Bennett SF 6'6'' 235 22 C+ C B- B- C+ C
Lakers – A
Buster addressed need all over the place in this draft and did an excellent job. Two nice looking PGs to fill his biggest hole, a defensive big and a nice looking scoring big. Just an outstanding all around draft for LAL.
1.6 Damon Stoudamire PG 5'10'' 171 22 C+ B B C+ D+ B
1.12 Greg Ostertag C 7'2'' 280 22 C D+ D B+ B+ C

2.2 Damian Mihm SG 6'5'' 224 19 B- C+ C C C A
Celtics – B+
We admire Dump’s dedication to the Report’s mock draft and, moreover, like the players he’s added to the roster. Nothing flashy here to earn an A, but a solid, solid draft.
1.7 Antonio McDyess PF 6'9'' 223 21 C+ D+ C- B+ B+ A
1.10 Kurt Thomas PF 6'9'' 230 23 B+ C- C- B- B C

2.5 Randolph Childress PG 6'2'' 188 23 C B- C+ B- D+ B
Spurs - B
If you’ve only got one pick, you could do much worse than Michael Finley. He’s not going to be Savage, but he could turn into a nice wing that could slot in next to Savage or be used as trade bait.
1.8 Michael Finley SG 6'7'' 215 22 B- C+ C+ C+ C B
Knicks – C-
The Report really likes Barry, but we also recognize there needs to be a little curve to the grades we issue and GM eric is loyal to the Report and doesn’t complain about trivial things like grades from a trillion-dollar organization based on a multi-billion dollar algorithim. We image he’d care even less if it were based on the whims of a bored 33-year old father of two typed up in his boxer-briefs. But we digress . . .
1.9 Brent Barry SG 6'6'' 185 24 B B- C B- C- C
2.8 Constantin Popa C 7'3'' 240 22 B- D+ C- B- C+ C
Supersonics – C+
After a couple years of outstanding drafting, the Yawnics take a step back this year. Edney looks like an interesting prospect, but he’s about the only player we feel was a good value for the pick.
1.11 Bob Sura SG 6'5'' 200 22 B- C+ C+ C+ C- B
1.21 Ernest Childs SG 6'5'' 207 22 C A- C C C- A
1.22 Jon Dowd PF 6'9'' 235 21 C C C C+ C A
1.25 Tyus Edney PG 5'10'' 152 22 C+ C+ A- C+ D+ B
2.12 Pete Holzman PF 6'9'' 222 22 C+ C C B- C+ D
Raptors – B
Pete snags Sim-20s at 1.16 and reaches on a big with nice looking inside scoring. Rumblings in Toronto have Pete looking to tinker with his roster, so who knows if these find gentlemen stick around. Hopefully things work out in T-Dot. If not, 2Poor says, “Blow it up. Holla at’cha boy!”
1.16 Shaun Stowner SF 6'7'' 233 22 B- C+ D+ B- C B
2.20 Loren Meyer C 6'10'' 257 23 B+ C- C- C B C
Rockets – F
If the Report were petty and took into account recent remarks out of Houston about Michael Redd and Ben Wallace, we would have given Dil an F- for this draft class. But we will rise above our baser instincts and give Dil the grade he deserves.
1.18 Brady Alston SG 6'4'' 220 21 C B+ B- C+ C- A
Heat – C+
There is nothing wrong with this draft for Canes, but there also is nothing to get excited about. We are the Report are holding out hope that Parks lives up to his Mock Draft lottery placement. If he doesn’t, I’m sure 2Poor will let us know.
1.19 Cherokee Parks C 6'11'' 235 23 C+ C D+ B+ B- B
2.18 Cory Alexander PG 6'1'' 185 22 C+ B- C+ B- C- C
Blazers – B-
The Mayor lands in Portland without much fanfare. This is the part of our draft grades where we’ve run out of ways to say this is an average haul. You know what is above average though? Steph Curry. Grats, Duc.
1.23 Andrew DeClercq C 6'10'' 235 22 B- C- C- B- B- B
1.28 Fred Hoiberg SG 6'4'' 203 23 C+ B C C+ C C
2.10 Brent Oakley PG 6'0'' 191 20 C B A- B- D+ D
2.17 Donny Marshall SF 6'7'' 230 23 B C C- B- C C
Thunder – B+
Perhaps it is Much Ado About Nothing, but we like this class for GBG. Even if he didn’t have a C handling grade, Templeton’s future in OKC would never be as a point guard. The Report sees Templeton as a shooting guard prospect, and a pretty good one at the end of the first round. Oh, and STEVE HOLT!
1.29 Nicklaus Templeton PG 6'1'' 171 22 C+ B+ C B- C- A
2.25 Steve Holt SF 6'7'' 210 18 C+ C C C+ C B
