So my mom got papers to serve on jury duty... Its on her birthday and she doesn't want to do it.
How does she get out of it?

Have her tell the courts she can't because she takes care of her disabled son and he's dependent on her.

Don't go. If she gets called out on it, feign ignorance and say you never got the summons while sounding distraught and ask to be rescheduled.

I've been called 3 times. Never actually happened. She will likely call the day of and find out she doesn't have to come in as it didn't go to trial.

Had jury duty last year. Here in Florida you get one deferment no question asked.

For real though, stuff like this is why Casey Anthony got acquitted. no one with a brain ever goes to jury duty I do to get off work. And to get sad when I see who they consider my peers. |

I got jury duty in college one time and no showed. Never had any negative repercussions. Same. Also, if you tell her to go steal the nearest truck and roll it she probably won't have to worry about getting selected again anytime soon. |
