Thinking about changing it to where you can't have a starter in the "2nd team" of your depth chart. Thoughts? Discuss.

i don't mind the idea of self imposed "stamina" stuff and promoting depth.

With this software I want my best players playing at all times. I don't want Blair not playing in crunch time because I have someone listed #2

I just want my best players playing as many minutes as possible because there is no such thing as stamina

I just think that with all the variables in this league knitpicking at this is a bad idea. Our league leader was at 40 mpg last year. Jimmy Butler was at 39 irl. Then you have someone like Allen Iverson who averaged over 41 mpg in his career including 8 seasons of over 42.5 MPG. That doesn't happen in Sim league either. Then in a way it can fuck up historical data with players getting less minutes.

I don't really care much either way. Usually have pretty good depth. Voted keep it the same.

If there was a science to setting the depth chart where you knew when people would be playing when you have them in certain depth chart slots then I would understand putting restrictions on it, but with the way it works I don't necessarily think this restriction makes a lot of sense.

Isn't that what most Gm's have been doing for the past 3 years? Of all the statistics in this league we are going after the one that might be the most realistic?

This is something that literally everyone can do. I don't see the reason for a change.

I have no idea how to fucking set a depth chart I still laugh audibly remembering the year where you essentially posted, "Fuck it, I really don't give a shit, make my DC whatever" and then left it taht way for the whole year

If you really want to put an emphasis on depth, one way is to not allow the healing of injuries. Even with backups on the DC, they generally don't play more than 12-16 minutes at one position.
The most compelling reason to have good backups would be go get the starter's minutes if you lose a starter, but right now, everyone (myself included) just heals the injury.

Having talented depth isn't even the reason I want to change it, although that becomes a facet affected by the change.
If you want to get rid of injury removal that's a whole new argument all together. You could start a discussion thread on that and we could get everyone's opinion.
