A prototypical rebounding and defensive big would describe Mel to a T. He's a real coach on the floor defensively, lunch pail kinda guy. Whiter than white from BYU, teammates describe Mel as a "hustle" player. He's bad at the line and his post move in college was being bigger than the defender, which won't be the case professionally. Mel is what he is and doesn't figure to be getting a whole lot better as a pro.
