Titled: Roundtable
1. What team do you not want to face in the playoffs in your conference and in the opposing conference? Why?
In the East I am going to go with the Bucks and it’s an easy decision for me. I think they match up better with me than most. The fact that you can add Kareem to an already really good series worries me.
In the west I got to say the T-Wolves or Trailblazers, and this is once again about the big men matchups.
In my conference I really don't want to play Dallas, they have owned me all season and I really struggle with them. In the Opposing conference the choice is the Cavs because of how good that frontcourt is and the roster that H/T has put around them.
The Trailblazers. Most of our games were close this season, but I just seem to get a W against him. My team seems to struggle against dominant big men, so that being said, I wouldn't want to face the Cavs if I made the finals. Lanier/Gilmore would eat me up inside.
In the Eastern conference, it's the Bucks. The Dr. J addition added another player to his arsenal that can beat you by himself. Trofie is doing what he always does, building a regular season powerhouse and I'm hoping that if it is not me that wins, it is him.
In the West, it's the Timberwolves. Ian is Ian and he knows too much about the software to ever want to face him in the playoffs. My team is built around stopping the wings and his team doesn't allow that due to his strengths being down low. I did just beat him on day 120 though...
I seem to struggle with Detroit the most for whatever reason even though my team on paper is much better, that being said I would still go with the Cavs.
In my conference, definitely the Jazz. They swept me last year and I don't think they're any worse this year. Picking up Truck was big for me but I still think they would destroy me. Truck and Knight can't stop Gervin and Barry. In the East, the Bucks scare me the most. Kareem has given trofie a very balanced team with a lot of offensive power. They need Kermit to step up because they have little to no depth but I love how they can beat you from anywhere.
2. Most overrated team coming into the 3001 playoffs/ most underrated team?
Im not sure anyone is overrated coming into this year’s playoffs. I think seeding fell as it should other than the weak Atlantic. If I had to choose a team I would sya the 60 win Cavs. I honestly felt coming in that I would have a worse year than last but improved.
Most underrated for me goes to the Mavericks. I don’t think many are talking about them as much as the top 3 seeds but I definitely wouldn’t be shocjed to see them make the finals.
Overrated team- I think is the Suns, they have a good record in a very tough west I just don't think they are as good as the top 4 teams or even as good as the Rockets who finished below them. The Suns have a pretty good team just don't think that they will make much noise come playoff time.
Underrated team- I will go with a couple eastern conference teams. I think both the Hawks and Hornets are somewhat sleepers in the East and if the right players get hot both teams have a shot to make a run in the playoffs and could shock or scare the Cavs.
By default I'm going to say the Jazz are the most overrated. For being the best team in the league they are very beatable. I think I'm the most underrated team. I picked up some very good players late, and play much better than a 4 seed IMO.
Overrated--> Gotta be the Cavs. I'm not sure how this team strikes so much fear into others. I think the Hornets could beat them.
Underrated--> The Hawks. The Drew/Frazier combination should have led them to more than 46 wins and they're another team like the Bucks that I do not want to see in the playoffs.
Overrated- Suns. Not impressive. + 5 on differential.
Underrated- Probably the Hornets. They have played lights out after the asb.
Most overrated: Cavs. I don't see how that team won 60 games. They look like a 50 win team to me. Obviously the twin towers are dominant down low but other than that they're pretty average. I don't think they'll beat a good team with great guards.
Most underrated: I like the Mavs. We all know this software does funky things with superstar guards in the playoffs. I think Thompson could carry them a long way.
3. Upset most likely to happen (2 seed difference minimum)
Rockets over T-Wolves as I think very highly of Dils team, not to say I don’t think the Wolves are an excellent team. Second choice would be the Hawks beating Dump, Trofie and me to get to the finals. I truly think that could happen.
In the east the choice has to be the Hawks of the Celtics simply because of how the Celtics got into the playoffs and why they are the 2 seed. In the West I will go with the Rockets/Timberwolves. I think Houston will give Minnesota all they can handle and then some.
Has to be the Hawks over the Celtics. The Atlantic is a weak division and the Celtics and Hawks had identical records during the regular season. Should be an exciting season and go the full seven games.
I think that the Timberwolves beat the Jazz in the West if we are talking the entire playoffs. If we are talking about just the first round, I don't think there will be any upsets bigger than 2 seed differences but I would like to see the Rockets eliminate the Pacers beat the Bucks. They did beat them on day 120 of the regular season.
Hawks over Celtics obvi
Warriors over Twolves just because the fake god in the sky wants us all to put up with Devine.
I think the obvious pick is the Hawks over the Celtics. But that's too easy so I'll pick something else. I don't think this will happen but I think it's the most likely to happen: Rockets over Timberwolves. The Wolves are a little bit better than my squad so I believe they'll win in 6 or 7 but if Truck and Knight can score well and McGinnis can not let Elvin average 40 then I think I could win.
4. Most feared positional grouping in each conference?
I didn’t word this question very well at all but I am going to go with the Jazz and all positions. Yes I know this doesn’t even answer the question I typed but fuck that team man, fucking fuck them.
For me it is the SF position. It is my weakest position on my roster and with players George Gervin, Dan Issel, Larry Kenon, and Truck Robinson the potential of those players against my SF is very scary for me. I need to hope that Walton plays out of his mind and that Ricky Sobers picks up the slack on the wing.
For me, it's big men in both conferences just because I struggle against them. I have the wings to hang with anyone, but lack the horses down low.
Huh?
If you are meaning duo, it's a two horse race in the east. It's either lanier and Gilmore or Kareem and Dr J.
West
Barry - Gervin or Magic - Pistol
If you mean positional dominance in a conference I will go East- SF West- PG or SF
I don't understand what this question means.
5. Of the top 3 seeds in each conference who would you prefer to face?
East- Celtics, sorry Dump but I want nothing to do with the Bucks
West- Jazz, I want that rematch so I can tap dat ass.
The Jazz simply because they were the team I had the most success against in the regular season. I don't want to play any of the other top 4 teams in the West because of how great they all are but the Jazz were the team I had the most success against even though I don't believe I could be them in a 7 game series. In the East again the obvious choice is Boston, sorry Dump, they just aren't as good as the other top 3 seeds in both conferences.
Jazz. I matchup very well with them and had good success against them in the regular season.
Celtics. By far the easiest of the top 3, and I would likely dominate him.
East--> Celtics. Duh. It's dumpasaurus rex.
West--> Trailblazers. No offense to my man duc, but we did split the season series 1-1 and the loss was only a 2 point margin on day 26 while the victory was 24 on day 78.
West- Portland or Twolves. My team has performed well the past 2 years against the T Wolves, and I think my team is deeper than Duc's. JMO
East- Celtics
Celtics obviously. Other than them, probably the Blazers. They're a good team but they don't have much outside of Walton.
6. Biggest surprise of the season?
Dump and Dirt going all fuck this and making the playoffs was entertaining. The Thunder not even making the playoffs is pretty damn surprising to me as well.
Druce's team falling off before he blew it up, I thought they were going to be at least decent and a playoff team even if it was a 6 or 7 seed. They just started off really slow and in the West that was an early nail in the coffin. I will also say that Dump switching gears mid-way through the season when he realized his tanking effort wasn't materializing so he made moves and won his division. I think it speaks more towards the other teams in his division who were attempting to win and couldn't but props to Dump to make the moves necessary to not only make the playoffs but win his division.
I know we all love to give him shit, but the biggest surprise this season is the Thunder not making the playoffs. I know the west is very competitive, but to me the Thunder is better than the 7th and 8th seed in the west.
After TC, I did not think that Magic would be the stud that he is. He is a freak and I think that this was not expected of him prior to the year. I may be wrong and probably ignorant of how the rest of the league felt but the guy is good and will win multiple championships during his time.
Tanking teams switching gears and giving up lotto/future picks to get star players.
I have no idea. I wasn't here until Day 85. I was really surprised to see a 1-81 team. Also surprised that the Hawks aren't better.
7. Simple question, who wins the East and who wins the West and why?
East- I chose myself in the prediction but I think that will depend on matchups. My gut says the Bucks
West- Jazz, as I said before fuck them.
Cavs in the east because that frontcourt is just way too good not to win that conference. In the West it is going to be a bloodbath and as much as I want to pick the Blazers I just can't so I will stick with the defending champs, the Utah Jazz.
I think Cavs will win the East because of their domination pf/c duo. Lanier is arguably the best player in the league.
West is tough to predict. It's all about matchups. I think whomever makes it out of the Wolves/Blazers series will represent the west in the finals.
Homer aside, I gotta go with the Bucks vs. Timberwolves. Both teams are led by a trio of players that can dominate games and have the ability to beat you either offensively or defensively.
East is going to be Bucks or Cavs imo, but I could see the Pistons/hornets winner sneaking in. I will go with the Anti Ian and say Cavs
West- Jazz, yall don't stand a chance.
East: Bucks. I like they're big 3 a lot. They need bench guys to step up but I like them slightly more than the Cavs.
West: Jazz. So much talent across the board. I don't see any team beating them.
8. Who gets Playoff MVP?
It will either be Gervin, Lanier, or Dr. J
George Gervin
I predicted the Cavs to win, so I'll pick the best player on that team with Lanier
Dr. J
Gervin is going to get it this year. Unless I match DR J on him in the finals to shut him down.
Gervin.
9. The software gets the awards wrong a number of times or at the least it’s debatable. What would your thoughts be on a GM voted MVP/DPOY/6th Man of the year and GM of the Year award be? We can create a poll and it can be voted on anonymously. Winners of the peer voted awards can receive a small bonus?
I think it would be fun to see but as others pointed out it may not work because of popularity or voting just to fuck someone over.
As much as I love the idea of GM's voting on all those awards I just don't know how much activity that will have. If we could find someone to run it and make sure that people are going to vote and participate then I'm all for it. If it is going to be just 8 gms voting on awards I don't like it as much especially if a bonus is going to be given. I do love the idea of just doing a GM of the Year award even if we don't do the others. I know at some point in 2.0 I think we did do awards like that where everyone voted but the participation wasn't there and it was scrapped.
It doesn't really matter to me either way. At one point in 2.0 Zpz did this and it seemed the interest in it died very quickly. Depending on what the bonus is, I think it would be fun who the league sees as the important award winners every season.

Hmm...I'd be cool with it if only the GM of the Year award received any additional bonuses. I'm not sure that someone should get points because they had a 6th man of the year.
I think this would be smart, but I don't think it would work well. You would have people not voting for the right reasons and someone who is not liked as well as someone else might get fucked out of the award.
I don't think there would be enough involvement to make that successful. I kind of enjoy the randomness of the software anyways. It keeps everything light. You can blame anything on the software.
10. Bankz is back, hate it/love it or really don’t give a damn?
I like Bankz, glad he is back. Hope we can work out some deals one day soon.
Love it, he is great for the league and extremely active. He can be hard head and argumentative at times but he is a gm that makes this league run better and more fun.
I love that Bankz is back because he is very active and is very easy to get ahold of for anything. I hate that Bankz is back because he says stupid shit all the time that contradicts himself all the time.
Bankz is great. I love having him around and bullshitting with him. It's also perfect timing with the World Cup starting this weekend.
Im Team Bankz
I like bankz as a gm. He continually blows up his team at terrible times which I often benefit from. Team bankz.
