Ok, so we hashed some things out in shout and the new proposal is as follows:
A player can only be put as a Shooting Guard on the depth chart in three scenarios
1. A player is listed as a SG 2. A player is listed as a PG 3. A player is a SF or PF and has C+ or lower rebounding
If you wish to play a SF or PF out of position at SG and that player has a rebounding grade above C+, you must change that player's position in the software.
Initial plan is to have this season as a grace period and then enforce the rule in years following.
Looking for feedback.

Since Soup supports it, this isn't even a vote.
If you don't want the change, you'll have to actually make an argument against it.
"It will effect my team!" isn't much of an argument.

This just seems like a bitter, salty Ankly rule

This works for me.
I think it's maybe a little overreaching to disable moving SGs to SF to avoid the rebounding cap, but it's not going to affect many people at all.

i think we're missing the forest for the trees on position rules. why are we worried about extra rebounding at SG? people bring up nick fazekas, nick fazekas never even made All-NBA third team. people bring up dirt, dirt didn't have a single player in the playoffs top 10 rebounding and his team was only 5th in the league in rebound% during the regular season.
.
it seems to me that the easy way is: a player is eligible + or - 1 from their listed position. i don't think any PF should be allowed to play at SG under any circumstances, or any SF to play PG, or any C to play SF or vice versa. that just doesn't make sense from a basketball perspective. we don't need to overreact to every champion and every series result, we don't need to be above this stat and below that stat and dig up 10 year old draft profiles to see where a player can play. simple, sensible, smart.

You say that but wouldn't you have to dig up old draft profiles to see where someone can play still with your way?
If I come to the league in 2021 at the later part of Nick Fazeka's career (since he was mentioned) I don't know what he is eligible to play because I don't know if he is playing his drafted position or if he's already been moved and where he was moved from

No part of the proposal in the OP involves looking at a player's listed position in their draft profile.

Clever semantics of your statement aside, I think you're being obstinate if you think moving Lockhart to SF to hope for B- rebounding is similar to moving a PF to SF.

Whether he's been moved or not is irrelevant. No part of the proposal in the OP involves looking at a player's listed position in their draft profile. That referred to the point guard eligibility rules. Fazekas may have made all-league if he was listed at SG. Porzingis certainly would've made more all-league teams if he was listed at SG. Porzingis has C+ rebounding, so Ankly's rule would let him play SG anyway.

If he can move 1 spot either way from where he's drafted and I come into the league in his 10th year and he's a SF I don't know if he's always been a SF, if he moved and if so was it from PF or SG because since he could only move 1 spot from his original position I could only leave him there or move him back to the original position unless I'm misunderstanding what you proposed

Don't see any problem with someone playing a SF with B- rebounding at SG. Don't punish them for having a unique skillset. If they have 15 perimeter defense then it will be a waste for the GM to put that player at SG anyways. I guess my point is that rebounding isn't that big of an advantage especially at SG.

If he comes into the league as an SF, he can play PF SF SG. If he's moved to PF, he can play C PF SF. If you move him back to SF, he can play PF SF SG again.

As one of the least active GMs I realize my opinion doesn't hold the clout it may have once had. However, I don't see the need for the rule change. This is a sim league, part of the intrigue is finding combinations that work in the software that may not seem most evident when looking at your roster. I understand there is a certain unrealistic aspect that can be frustrating, but all in all I think taking it away would be a bigger disservice to the league.

Wonder if the reaction would be the same if soup posted this same thread So irl LeBron or Melo can't play SG at any point in the game? This doesn't really make much sense to me really. What is the difference in Magic Johnson a pg getting 10 boards or a sg getting 8ish? I understand the pf/c can't play sf but to do this because of rebounding is pretty dumb. If rebounding grade sets weretonly rebounding I might not care but it also has to do with other atributes. Is it such an advantage we must commit to another change making people like me just not care about the league anymore because of these pity complaints.
