You get 4 votes. We'll see how the voting shakes out and if necessary have a runoff election. The only criterion is "most important franchise". How you define that is up to you.

Went with Final Fantasy, Madden, Mario, and GTA.
I feel like I would have gone with Warcraft II over GTA if it had been an option, since it was the genesis of Starcraft and World of Warcraft.

I'm baffled at GTA having more votes than FF and WoW let alone the 2 of them combined

Also I changed my Pokemon vote to GTA after thinking about it more and the impact GTA had. 2 of my favorite games of all time are Red Dead Redemption and Skyrim, open world games that GTA helped pave the way for

Red dead probably my favorite game ever I got in so many hours on that game it was ridiculous. It was such a good game. I got up to like 99.4% completion. I didnt get get all the wanted posters. I spent hours just going to different towns at different times of day to get the ones I was missing but so many repeats were popping up I eventually stopped trying. I wanted that 100% complete so bad.

FF, WoW, GTA, Mario in that order i think it's pretty hilarious that angry birds is even considered. Angry Birds (et al) has been downloaded 3 billion times. Mario, Pokémon, GTA, CoD, and the Sims franchises put together have sold 1 billion. The only way Angry Birds isn't considered in this list is if you say it doesn't qualify as a game. GTAs reach on the gaming society is 10 fold on those other 2 franchises Every game (including GTA) uses RPG elements, which are ultimately derived from Final Fantasy. Like Legend of Zelda creating the concept of a save feature, the FF series' contributions are now such a bedrock level assumption that it's inconceivable that there used to be games without them.

Mario is clearly #1 Madden #2 because without it, who knows where sports gaming would be Pokemon at #3 becausee it made both RPG style games and hand held games mainstream Wow at #4 because it revolutionized online gaming. (party chat, subscription services, etc) (never played it)
Hon mention to Halo for changing FPS from fixed health to regenerative health

i voted for angry birds, because i personally think it revolutionized phone gaming, which reaches a far greater audience than video games.

I don't really feel like downloads is a great metric for determining greatness. That's like saying having the most at-bats in the history of the MLB means you're the best.
