Tell us a little bit about yourself.
Well, I’m 29 and I work as an underwriter at a large wholesale mortgage company. I’m getting married the day before former GM MJ next April. I live in a suburb of Detroit and have been involved with TMBSL for the better part of 4 years I think. A lot of my interests are centered around sports, and I prefer college sports to professional. Also a really big Barcelona fan, and have been getting more into hockey lately as well. I’ve been known around the league to be pretty hot tempered, though I’ve settled down quite a bit these days. I spend entirely too much of my work day on the site and chatting with you assholes.
What brought you into the sim league?
I saw the thread on TMB, and had spent a lot of time in OOTP baseball leagues, so I figured a basketball version would be fun
You are the defending champion, in your opinion was this your best team? It seemed to come out of nowhere on some people.
No, I don’t think this was my best team, in fact I think it was the worst of my 3 (4) title teams. I agree that it came out of nowhere. I liked my core a lot, but thought I was too weak at the PG spot to win the championship. Michael Smith came back just in time, and Overton played really well in the playoffs.
Saw that you are dangling Big Country out there on the trade market, What is your line of thought with this? Are you putting up the white flag to 20s team or just looking to see if you can retool?
I get bored with my team very easily. I’ve had the same core for roughly 3 months IRL time, so I’m wanting to kick the tires on what I can get out of Reeves. I don’t have my pick in 28 or 31, so I have no reason to have a fire…sale. I’ve been trying without any luck to get a younger wing to step in for Smith after this season as well. Doesn’t seem like there is much of a trade market right now.
In your opinion, who is the most difficult person to discuss trade with in the league and why?
There are quite a few people honestly. There are a lot of people who are gun shy and scared to make moves. I’m not going to offer the best offer right out of the gate, because that would be retarded, some people just expect trades to fall into their laps as definite wins, and I think that’s really unrealistic. Based on my Kemp negotiations with Victor, I will avoid talking any trade with him moving forward, even if it would benefit my team, but if it was to my benefit enough then I would engage. I just can’t stand people who don’t respond. Don’t like the offer? Just say no and move on, not hard, I’ve done it plenty of times. Sometimes I throw out offers just to throw my hat into the ring.
What is the best sporting event you have ever attended?
Probably the 2009 NCAA Championship basketball game. I got to watch UNC destroy Michigan State in Detroit which was fantastic to be at. Also, when I finagled my way to ND sideline passes for a slew of games during the 2009 season when I worked at a TV station, it was awesome to be on the sidelines w/my dad for 4 games.
What is the best and worst Christmas gift that you have ever recieved?
The best was probably the Chipper Jones starting lineup my fiancé got me last year. I loved starting lineups as a kid, and never had a Chipper one, and he’s my favorite athlete of all time. It wasn’t something I asked for, and I really appreciated the thought behind it.
The worst was the Antonio banderas small over night bag that my aunt gave me on behalf of my grandma when she was sick. It was literally the free gift to the Antonio banderas cologne that my cousin got. I strongly dislike that aunt.

This is going to make me seem like a big pussy, but I like drinks that taste good.

With it getting really cold now in the midwest (fuck you assholes in the south), what is the best vacation you ever had and why?
I went to a bunch of NBA all star games when I was younger, so probably one of those, not sure which one. I also really enjoyed DC this past summer and the Barcelona game.
You have now won two championships in the sim league, any secrets or little things you do that lead to your success?
Well, SPL, I’ve won 3 championships, but I don’t think there are very many secrets to success anymore thanks to eric. While it’s great to know everything about the software, I think it’s done a lot to level the playing field for those who pay attention. My main thing has just been knowing when to go all-in and knowing when to tear it down because the team isn’t ever going to be good enough. If you’re in the position to trade for a super star, you do it. 2nd tier assets are great to have, but there are only so many super stars in the league.
Next season for ND, would you go with Zaire or Kizer (Fuck the non-ND fans) and why?
This is probably a lot tougher decision for me than it should be, but I really really like what Zaire brought to the team. I love Kizer for what he did as well, but I just feel like Zaire is such a dynamic player with what he adds to the run game. I think a lot of Kizer’s success was thanks to our receiving corps and mainly Will Fuller. I think it should be a 100% open competition this spring.
We are about to be flooded with the movie A Christmas story for 24 hours on TNT or TBS. If you could re-cast the movie with sim league GM's, who would be what character?
Honestly I’ve never paid much attention to that movie. Whoops.
In your opinion, what is the best all time team in sim league history and why?
Probably one of the Rockets teams in 2.0 with Nick Diaz just because he was such a monster. In 4.0 it’d have to be one of soups teams with Thompson/Kenon. My memory fails me on who else was on those squads, maybe catfish was on them too? Idk.
With the release of the new star wars, there has been a star wars fever on the board. Rank the 7 Star wars movies in order of your favorite to least favorite and give a little bit on why they are in that order.
The only one I’ve seen was Phantom Menace, and that was on opening day. Jar Jar Binks is awesome.
Any final thoughts or shoutouts?
Sure, I’ll take this opportunity to thank a lot of the guys I’ve become really close with over the years through drunken shouting in our mid 20s, guys like Trofie, ohh (who won’t ever read this) zpz (same) rv, dil, buster, soup, 20s, ank, mj, ocho, oops, hell even dump’s goofy ass. Also some of the new guys like heebs, eric, spl, bruns, odin, shaun. I really love the league and appreciate everything that everyone has done to keep it going, especially all the commishes past and present.
