1. Pacers - Rudy Gay SF 6'8'' 222 20 B+ C C- B- C+ A (actual pick: Lamarcus Aldridge)
36.7 | 23.6 | 7.7 | 2.2 | .9 | 1.1 | 1.3 | 44.9 | 82 | 39
Originally Drafted at 1.2 by the Spurs. Rudy started off as one of the best young wing tandems in the league in San Antonio before leaving in free agency to become one of the elite wings in the league and a vital component of the Phoenix Suns championship in 3026.
2. Spurs - Brandon Roy SG 6'6'' 207 22 B B- C C+ C B (Rudy Gay)
35.7 | 22.4 | 5.6 | 3.9 | 1.7 | .2 | 1.5 | 45.7 | 87.4 | 41.7
Originally taken at 1.3 by Toronto, Rudy has become Mr Raptor and has been an elite SG during his career in Toronto. He is a better shooter than Rudy, but doesn't rebound like Rudy, and isn't the mismatch Gay has been at the SG position.
3. Raptors - Adam Morrison SF 6'7" 195 22 B B C- C+ C- B (Brandon Roy)
35.7 | 21.3 | 5.6 | 3.1 | .7 | .2 | 1.5 | 46.6 | 82.3 | 45.8
Originally taken at 1.9 by Seattle, Morrison has been an elite scoring wing for his entire career. Very efficient scorer, who scores in bulk. He was a key cog in many elite Seattle teams, but could never take them to the top.
4. Rockets - Lamarcus Aldridge C 6'11'' 234 21 B+ C- D+ B B- A (Shawne Williams)
35.2 | 20 | 11.5 | 1.3 | 1.4 | 2 | 1.1 | 44.3 | 77.5 | 0
Originally taken at 1.1 by the Pacers. Aldridge took a little while to bloom, and has moved around the league quite a bit in his career. When he did bloom, he became one of the better scoring big men in the league. He's a very good rebounder, and plays pretty solid defense as well.
5. Grizzlies - Rodney Carney SF 6'5'' 204 22 B- C+ C- C+ C A (Tyrus Thomas)
26.7 | 15.6 | 5 | 1.7 | 1.1 | .2 | 1 | 46.5 | 79.4 | 42.8
Originally taken outside the lotto at 1.25, Carney has quietly been one of the better scoring wings in the league. Never truly been a featured player, but he has been a great contributer on some very good teams.
6. Grizzlies - Mouhammed Sene C 7'0'' 240 20 C D C- A- B A (Andrea Bargnani)
28.6 | 5.5 | 9.2 | 1.4 | .6 | 3.1 | 1.1 | 38.9 | 56.3 | 0
Sene was taken at 1.14, just outside the lotto, but I like him here to the Grizz. He would have paired nicely with Big Country, letting Big Country shoot, while Sene rebounds and protects the rim.
7. Thunder - Tyrus Thomas PF 6'8'' 217 20 B C- C- B+ B- A (Thabo Sefolosha)
26.2 | 15.7 | 6.4 | .9 | .5 | .4 | 1.2 | 49.8 | 73.3 | 0
Originally taken at 1.5 by the Grizz. Tyrus can score pretty efficiently. He has no 3 pt shot to speak of, but he doesn't really block shots; so he has always been a bit of a tweener. The Thunder were in need of a wing here at 1.7; so Tyrus is a good fit here.
8. Nets - Stephon Tepmpleton C 6'11'' 258 20 B C C B+ B- B (Rajon Rondo)
26.5 | 14.1 | 8.1 | 1.6 | .7 | 2.8 | 1 | 45 | 82.9 | 0
Originally selected at 1.12 by the Grizzlies. Templeton is an efficient scoring big many. He also is a solid rim protector, and was undervalued early in his career before finding a home in the New York Knicks front court.
9. Sonics - Sheldon Williams C 6'11'' 260 23 B C- D+ B+ B+ C (Adam Morrison)
26.9 | 10 | 9.4 | 1.5 | .7 | 3 | 1.2 | 40.5 | 70 | 0
Originally selected at 1.10 by the Celtics. Sheldon Williams is the BPA at this point in the draft. He is a great rebounder and high level rim protector. He isn't the most efficient scorer, but he isn't afraid to shoot.
10. Celtics - Thabo Sefolosha SG 6'6'' 215 22 C+ C+ C+ B+ C+ A (Sheldon Williams)
25.6 | 9.4 | 5.2 | 2.3 | 1.4 | .2 | 1.3 | 44.5 | 81.9 | 38.1
Originally drafted at 1.7 by the Thunder. Thabo is a bit of a glue guy. He defends well, and he does a little bit of everything. Thabo isn't a great scorer, as far as wings go, but he scores somewhat efficiently.
11. Bulls - JJ Redick SG 6'5'' 195 22 C A C B- C D (Paul Millsap)
25.7 | 10.3 | 5 | 2.2 | 1.1 | .1 | 1.2 | 45.2 | 90.4 | 43.7
JJ Redick was originally selected by Seattle with pick 1.15. JJ is a great free throw shooter, and a good shooter from range. Great jump shooter who does a lot of the little things well, but not great.
12. Grizzlies - Patrick O'Bryant C 7'0'' 250 20 B- C- D+ B C+ A (Stephon Templeton)
30.7 | 7.6 | 9.8 | 1.4 | .7 | 3.2 | .9 | 39.8 | 71.1 | 0
Patrick was originally drafted at 1.19 by the Magic. We think he could help the Grizz in a lot of the same ways Sene would have helped. He would have been a good rotation big man who protects the rim and rebounds well while Big Country could continue to get the headlines in their front court with all the points.
13. Bucks - Daniel Gibson PG 6'2'' 190 20 C+ B- B- C+ C- A (Shannon Brown)
18.8 | 7.9 | 2.6 | 4.7 | .8 | .1 | .9 | 45.6 | 81.2| 41.6
Gibson originally was drafted at 1.16 by the Bullets. I felt there had to be at least one PG in the lotto; so I selected Boobie over Lowry and Rondo because of his great jump shooting ability. He has never really been a featured PG, but has provided good depth for the entirety of his career.
Other notes/Draft class Overview:
I would have to say that this was a pretty weak draft class. It was a top heavy class, that didn't really produce a whole lot of allstar caliber talent. The class was headlined by some talented wings and Lamarcus Aldridge, outside of them, there wasn't much in the way of point guard talent or scorers in the front court. There were some okay rotation players outside of the lotto, such as Lowry, Pops Mensah-Bonsu, Rondo, and Jeff Murray, but there were also some major busts like Andrea Bragnani and Shawne Williams.
