1. Kings - Larry Johnson SF/PF 6'6 250 21 B+ B- C- C+ B B (actual pick: Larry Johnson)
36.6 | 33 | 9.4 | 2.2 | 1 | .4 | 1.4 | 49.0 | 84.2 | 41.8
Really it's splitting hairs at the top of this draft. A lot of great talent was drafted in 3023. I figured since 20's took him number 1 and has obviously had no regrets that I should keep Grandma-ma at #1. Elite scoring wing and a great rebounder. Just looking to bring home that first title.
2. Kings - George Ackles PF 6'9'' 275 19 B- C D B- B- A (Matt Lockhart)
36.8 | 25.5 | 9.2 | 1.2 | 2.0 | .7 | 1 | 50.3 | 84.4 | 33.7
Ackles was a steal at pick 18. Drafted as a PF, he quickly made a name for himself as an elite wing. He can defend well at 2 spg, and he shooting over 50% from the field for his career. Not as good from 3 as Johnson, but he is just as dominant.
3. Sixers - Terrell Brandon PG 5'11'' 180 20 B- B C+ C+ D+ B (Steve Smith)
37.4 | 24.5 | 4.3 | 10.1 | 1.9 | .3 | 2 | 47.8 | 87.1 | 42.4
Brandon was originally taken at 1.5, but he has to move up with his play to this point. Fason whiffed on Steve Smith here who has been a disappointment to this point in his career. Brandon might make an argument that #3 pick is too low, considering his back to back MVP's, but that's just how good I think those guys above him have been so far in their careers.
4. Timberwolves - Dump Silvestri PG 6'2" 175 17 C+ B- C+ C+ C A (Dump Silvestri)
38.3 | 23.3 | 5.5 | 10.5 | 1.8 | .2 | 1.7 | 45.3 | 79.1 | 40.1
Dump finds himself in the same spot he was taken in the actual draft. His numbers are pretty close to Brandon's at this point in their careers and you really can't go wrong with either of them.
5. Nuggets - Doug Overton PG 6'3'' 190 21 B- B- B- C D+ A (Terrell Brandon)
35 | 20.2 | 3.7 | 9.6 | .9 | .1 | 1.4 | 44.9 | 82.9 | 38.5
Overton was originally drafted in the second round by Druce. Doug might be a little bit of a stretch here at 1.5, but the Nuggets were in search of a PG and with Brandon and Dump of the board, we went with the next best option. Overton is a good scorer and facilitator on offense. 9.6 assists to only 1.4 TO's is pretty damn good, while scoring efficiently.
6. Grizzlies - Dikembe Mutombo C 7'2" 285 24 B C- D+ A- A- C (Dikembe Mutombo)
35.2 | 17.9 | 13.8 | 1.6 | .6 | 3.6 | 1.2 | 44.9 | 73.7 | 50
Druce picked Mutombo here originally, and I'd say it panned out alright. It helped him bring home a title in 3025 on the back of some great shot blocking and rebounding while being a good and efficient scoring big man. He has done a little bit of everything you want from a big, but his age moves him down in the draft a little bit.
7. Bulls - Matthew Lockhart SG 6'4" 190 21 B- B- C B+ C+ B (Labradford Smith)
34.4 | 20.3 | 7 | 3.5 | 1.5 | 2.2 | .9 | 44.5 | 86.9 | 35.5
Originally taken at 1.2, Lockhart slides a little in the redraft. Despite his slight slide, Lockhart has been a great player in this league. This draft class is just that stacked up top. Lockhart's defense its top tier, while his scoring is solid. Bruns was looking for a wing, and Lockhart would have been a great piece if he slid to 1.7 for him.
8. Nuggets - Kevin Brooks SF 6'6'' 200 21 B C+ C- B- C B (Stacey Augmon)
37.3 | 26 | 6.4 | 2.5 | 2.0 | .2 | 1.3 | 46 | 80.9 | 38.5
Taken at 1.10 in the actual draft, Brooks has outperformed the draft slot to this point. Bankz had a little bit of a bust here with Augmon, but had he taken Brooks he would have gotten a big time scoring wing who puts up big numbers on good shooting percentages.
9. Timberwolves - LeRon Ellis C 6'9'' 225 21 B D+ C- B+ C+ A (Billy Owens)
34 | 11 | 10.9 | 1.1 | 1.3 | 3.6 | .9 | 40.8 | 67.4 | 0
Originally drafted by Bankz in the early second round, Ellis gets a big bump up to 1.9. Ayyoe originally went for Billy Owens, a PF/SF who never really lived up to his lotto billing. We like Ellis as a rim protector who rebounds well and scores some points on occasion, as well.
10. Magic - Kenny Anderson PG 6' 170 20 C+ B- C+ C+ C A (Kevin Brooks)
33.2 | 22.2 | 5 | 6 | 1 | .2 | 1.4 | 46 | 84.6 | 38.4
Anderson went at 1.11 originally. We like Anderson as the B.P.A. at this point. Anderson isn't your typical PG. He doesn't pass a whole lot, with only 6 APG, but what Anderson can do is score the rock. He is scoring 22.2 ppg while shooting well from the field and FT line.
11. Sixers - LaBradford Smith PG/SG 6'3 200 21 B- B- C B- C- B (Kenny Anderson)
31.2 | 16.7 | 4.2 | 1.8 | 1.5 | .2 | 1.1 | 44.8 | 86.5 | 39.3
Labradford was originally drafted by Bruns at 1.7. We like Smith here since Fason went for a PG in the draft, and Smith is PG eligible. LaBradford has been a solid player and had some nice years with the Bulls. He can score the ball efficiently, but has typically played behind more dominant players like Blake Griffin, Jerry Stackhouse, and Aaron Harrison.
12. Raptors - Chad Gallagher C 6'10'' 255 22 C- C C- B B+ C (Doug Smith)
26.5 | 2.9 | 9.1 | .9 | .6 | 2.5 | .7 | 40.6 | 85.9 | 0
Chad Gallagher was drafted at 2.16 in the original draft. He has become one of the better defense only big men in the league. He refuses to shoot the ball, which is why we like him, but when he does shoot it goes in at a 40.6 % clip. He also can make free throws, unlike many of his defense only big man contemporaries.
13. Sixers - Shaun Vandiver SF 6'8'' 210 22 B C C B- C+ B (Rick Fox)
29.3 | 15.1 | 6.2 | 2.3 | .5 | .6 | 1.6 | 45.6 | 85.0 | 38.1
Vandiver was taken at 1.28 originally. He fits the wing position that Fason was looking for with his Rick Fox selection. Vandiver has been an efficient scoring wing in his time in the league. He isn't elite, but he is the type of solid wing you'd like to find at the end of the lotto.
Other notes/Draft class Overview:
There is quite a bit of star power in this draft up top. You have some of the dominant players on many of the current playoff teams hailing from this draft. There were some jewels to be found in this class, and it makes me jealous that I wasn't tanking when these guys were coming up. One funny note that I stumbled upon when looking at players in this class was that Zan Tabak is 2 for 47 from 3 pt for his career, a cool 4.3 percent. That's funny on it's own, but what put it over the top, in my view, is that Tabak is averaging 2.4 points per game as a primarily defense only big. So in the few shots he does decide to throw up, it's comical that he has chucked up 47 three pointers considering how bad he is from range.
