Van Exel is a raw prospect who has some growing to do. He's got a good jumper but is inconsistent from everyone on the floor. He's a hard nosed guy with a good work ethic. He can distribute the ball well, but can get careless with it at times. On the other side of the floor he's quick enough to stay with most guards and is decently strong as well. He shouldn't have a problem guarding most pro point guards. If he figures to make an impact on the league he needs to become a more consistent player and limit his mistakes.
