Going to project the standings and picks for the stacked 3031 draft. The West playoff picture was tough to figure out as there are only 2 teams actually attempting to tank. I imagine we will see more tanking teams for next year's stacked draft.
1. Sonics
Giannis Antetokounmpo
19
SF
6'11
222
Greece
B- C+ C+ C+ C+ A
I have the Sonics as the worst team in the league. Ved is tanking and imo has the worst roster out there. The top of the board isnt as stacked I'm this draft but this young man offers the highest upside and versatility in this class. Projects at 5 possible positions down the road and will.end up being a 7 footer. Solid pick here but he will likely take time to develop.
2. Bulls
Dolph Schayes
22
PF/C
6'8
230
Syracuse
B C C- B- B+ B
Dolph was an outstanding player in 2.0. I have bruns as the #2 pick. He's actually got some good young wing talent and a possible future starting pg on his roster. What he's lacking is any semblance of a big. Dolph is far and away the best big in this class imo. He's a 0/0/0 guy but I think people are reading to much into that. He's a great pick at this spot and I could actually see him possibly going #1.
3. Rockets
Otto Porter
20
SF
6'8
198
Georgetown
B- B- C B- C+ B
Unfortunately for dil most of the guys in this class will be gambles so he has to roll the dice. He's the most complete Wing in this draft and I don't really buy into the grades are to good theory. I think he's a solid pick at #3 but I could see reasoning for going oladipo here.
4.Hawks
Victor Oladipo
21
SG
6'4
213
Indiana
B- C+ C+ B C A
This guy also has some versatile grades. Hawks would be in a tough position here as they appear to have a future pg and sg on the roster. They could use a big here but I don't think one is of Oladipo's caliber. Could see a draft day trade with Hebrew here. The question is whether or not you think he projects as a pg or sg. I'm going Pg.
5. Heat
CJ McCollum
22
SG
6'4
200
Lehigh
C+ B+ C C+ C B
Grades aren't overwhelming by any means but the fact that he has actually panned out in the NBA has to count for something. He's a sleeper with his grades and would be a good pick here. Canes badly needs some wing talent. I could see canes going the safer route here.
6. Bucks
Alex Len
20
C
7'1
260
Maryland
B D+ D B B- A
The bucks need a productive Big badly so im.selecting Len. He's got great looking grades but he will likely be a project. Could easily end up being your run of the mill shitty shooting big who gets blocks as a worst case scenario. This is a wing heavy draft unfortunately.
7. Raptors (Knicks 1st)
Nerlens Noel
19
C
6'11
228
Kentucky
C D D+ A- B A
This pick works perfectly for Pete. Noel is possibly the safest pick in the draft as a defensive big. The Raptors already have a ton of young talent and Noel would be able to be a rotational or starting Big off the bat. Plus Pete has another pick to go another route if he'd like.
8. Sixers
Ben McLemore
20
SG
6'5
195
Kansas
B- B C C C A
He will not slide this far in reality, but it's a good selection for Fason who is entering a tank phase. Ben was a very good player in 2.0 for Dirt and offensively has great starting grades. His athleticismis through the roof as well so I think the defense should come with time. Low risk high reward pick in this class.
9.Bulls (Blazer 1st)
Kelly Olynyk
22
PF/C
7'0
238
Gonzaga
B C+ D C+ B- B
The 2nd of Bruns lottery picks , I have him taking another big. I don't really see tons of other options here. Kelly will likely never get to many blocks but he's got high upside on the offensive end as a stretch big that would work well next to Dolph. I have the Blazers missing the playoffs in the stacked West.
10. Raptors ( Suns 1st)
Cody Zeller
21
PF/C
7'0
240
Indiana
B C C- B- B- B
Like Bruns I'm projecting Pete ends up with 2 lotto picks at minimum. I had Pete going with a defensive big earlier, I now have him selecting a more well rounded big here. His career like most will depend on his staring potential. A guy going lotto in this draft would be borderline top 25 in last year's draft. Could see Pete going the defensive route x2 and taking Adams here.
11.Hornets
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope
20
SG
6'5
205
Georgia
B- C+ C B- C+ B
I have the Hornets as last team out in the playoffs in the east. He's got a stacked Rotation down low and a future pg in Van Exel. What he lacks is a dynamic wing so I went with some upside here. Pope will likely go earlier than #11 in the actual draft but I like he would fit for Rv here.
12. Thunder
Trey Burke
21
PG
6'1
191
Michigan
C+ B- B C D+ B
I've got geebs selecting the Michigan man. Trey has been a disappointment in the NBA much like the players listed above him. He's got a young team that will soon take the next step , however I'm still not sure Rose is the answer at pg. Burke gives him a pg prospect to develop into a future tmbsl starting pg.
13. Grizzlies
Anthony Bennett
20
PF
6'8
245
UNLV
B C+ D+ C B A
I've got druce as the last team out of the playoffs in the west. He's got fantastic bigs and decent wings. Ideally a pg would be a fit here unfortunately I don't see one worth it at #13 which is saying something considering this shit draft. Bennett was possibly the worst #1 overall pick in nba history but he's got decent grades so I think he's worth a shot with the last pick in the lotto.
Of the 11 gm's in this lotto draft I'd say 7 of them would take Giannis with the #1 pick. I think 4 gm's ( bruns, pete , gbg , and myself) would take Dolph #1.
