Good afternoon GMs and welcome to the first edition of our new report on TMBSL's summer league!
This year's league saw 8 teams of the league's youngest talent facing off in exhibition games against one another.
The Roster's for this year's league were as follows:
As you can see, the Knicks didn't stand a chance, while the Nets, Celtics, and Bullets rosters were stacked.
In fact, as we can see from not only the win loss totals, but also from the PPG differentials, the Bullets were the strongest team in summer league while the Knicks were absolutely terrible.
This isn't surprising, as the Bullets had two players, Victor Oladipo and Manuel Gordon, who were 30+ ppg scorers. In addition, Rudy Gobert was a huge defensive presence in the middle, blocking nearly 4 shots per game (which was by far the best average in summer league)!
Our MVP of summer league, however, came from the underachieving Hawks. Dolph Schayes was a complete package, scoring with efficiency, pulling down an outstanding number of rebounds, and managing to assert himself on defense unlike many of the other bigs in this class.
Other league leaders included Kelly Olynk on the boards, Phil Pressey with assists, and Jackson Newcomb with steals.
While there were a number of outstanding players in this year's summer league, we had to narrow the field down to an all summer league team of 2 bigs, 2 wings, and a point guard. A number of deserving players were not included (Manuel Gordon and Phil Pressey come to mind) - perhaps these players will have an opportunity to make their mark next year.
And finally, for those of you interested in viewing all of the stats from this year's summer league, we've got you covered.

Rex had good efficiency, but McCollum was a better rebounder and produced a ton more on the defensive end.

Houston obviously didn't have the defensive numbers of McCollum, but scored slightly more and a lot more efficiently. He also had twice as many assists. I don't know if rookie vs non rookie had any bearing since all the other guys you have on the all summer league team are rookies.

The second wing was probably the hardest decision. I went with McCollum because he scored with the other top wings, was a ++ rebounder and had ++ stls.

The FG % is pretty bad considering how much he was shooting. Houston was only .5 rebs back, but the defense was obviously way below McCollum.

Gordon had better numbers than dipo, mccollum, and houston.

Gordon had better numbers than dipo, mccollum, and houston. He listed Gordon at PG; so he was competing with Canaan.
