As a note, I think I'm only going to do two updates this season. Much like Fason, I found that 4 updates in a season is too may, so I'll update at day 60 and then with final rankings after the season. These rankings take into account only preseason performance, not summer league stats Through Preseason 1. Ben McLemore SG 20 6'5'' 195 B- A- C B- C B#1 was an easy call. McLemore looks ready to be a top scoring option from day 1, which has been a rarity for rookies lately. Fason may have his next Jimmy Chitwood on the roster. 2. Dolph Schayes PF 22 6'8'' 230 B C C- B A- AAnother no-brainer. Dolph may not shoot quite as efficiently in the regular season, as he played SF in preseason, but still. Points, rebounds, blocks and efficiency are all there, making him primed for a breakout rookie season. 3. Nate Wolters PG 22 6'4'' 190 C B- A- C C CAfter the top 2, these rookies really fall off a cliff. Wolters gets the nod at 3 for two reasons. First, he actually got starters minutes. Second, he won a ROTM. Good enough to edge out the rest of these bums. 4. Pierre Jackson PG 22 5'10'' 180 C B C+ B- D AThe least heralded of the Cavs rookies, Pierre got up a lot of shots in backup minutes and converted them at a really nice clip. Very intriguing preseason for Sugar S 5. Giannis Antetokounmpo SF 19 6'11'' 227 B- B- C+ B C+ AThe #1 pick in the draft got shafted on playing time, and the sample size we've got is minuscule. But hey, at least he shot well in those limited minutes. 6. Kelly Olynyk PF 22 7'0'' 238 B+ C+ D+ C+ B BOlynyk showed some very positive signs in preseason. Good volume of shots and rebounding numbers, solid FT%. 7. Nerlens Noel C 19 6'11'' 228 C+ D D+ A- B+ BAnother top pick who got hosed by the software coach. Hard to project out what he would do with starters' minutes, but over 1 block, half a steal and 3 rebounds in 9 minutes a game hint that he's every bit the D/R big he projected to be. 8. Isaiah Canaan PG 22 6'1'' 195 B- B A- B- D+ BThe efficiency isn't there, but he took care of the ball well, put up some nice assist numbers in a back up role, and his FT% indicates his jumper is in the right place. I like the looks of this young member of the tribe. 9. Cody Zeller PF 21 7'0'' 240 B C C- B B- BOf all the Nets rookies, I doubt Cody will be the one cracking the postseason top 10, but he got by far the most minutes of the three and didn't perform poorly. Shooting over .450 FG% is always a good thing for your big man. t10. Matthew Dellavedova PG 22 6'4'' 190 C B- A- B+ C- C Delly definitely didn't set the world on fire, but he converted his FTs, got some good assist numbers and looks like he may be a solid back-up PG in the future. t10. Solomon Hill SF 22 6'7'' 220 B B- C C+ C+ BHill shot well in small minutes, but I couldn't give him #10 outright because I don't see much else to get excited about. Ones to watch: Victor Oladipo, CJ McCollum, Rudy Gobert, Otto Porter, and everyone else who got zero minutes in preseason

At least Canaan is in the top 10! I knew he wasnt gonna be high due to his FG% but I'm just happy about his A:TO ratio. Thanks eric !

Day 75 Update 1. Ben McLemore SG 20 6'5'' 195 B- A- C B- C B LR: 1McLemore wowed us in preseason and has continued to enjoy a stellar rookie campaign thusfar. His efficiency is down and turnovers are up compared to his preseason numbers, but he's a volume scoring wing even as a rookie, which is a rare sight these days. 2. CJ McCollum SG 22 6'4'' 200 C+ B+ C B- C B LR: Unranked
Fason swung by the drive-thru this offseason and picked him up some spicy McWings. CJ hasn't gotten the PT that McLemore has, but he's been very good. The only thing keeping him below his teammate in my mind is it's not clear if he could keep up the efficiency in starter's minutes. 3. Isaiah Canaan PG 22 6'1'' 195 B- B A- B- D+ B LR: 8
Probably the inside track for software ROTY due to the position he plays. Canaan has fit in seamlessly with the Celtics, and probably could challenge for the top spot if he wasn't so far down the pecking order for scoring chances. 4. Victor Oladipo SF 21 6'4'' 218 B B- C+ A- C A LR: Unranked
Oladipo didn't get much burn in preseason but I think most expected him to have a strong campaign. He has not disappointed, putting up good numbers and percentages. The blocks per game are also impressive, and indicate that he's got the potential to be an all-league defender down the road. 5. Gorgui Dieng C 23 6'11'' 242 C C- D+ B+ B B LR: Unranked
The only Western Conf rookie to make the list, Gorgui was acquired in the Jeff Murray trade. He looks like an ideal D/R big in the making, with good blocks and decent rebounds as well as a great FT%. Good piece for a Spurs team that is looking to retool. 6. Dolph Schayes PF 22 6'8'' 230 B C C- B A- A LR: 2
Dolph has been buried on the depth chart as a casualty of tank warfare, but this is as far as I'll let him fall. He may not be the efficient player he was in preseason, but he's still got all the right moves for a rookie big man. 7. Kelly Olynyk PF 22 7'0'' 238 B+ C+ D+ C+ B B LR: 6
Volume shooter who needs to work on his efficiency, but I'm impressed with Olynyk so far. 8. Anthony Bennett SF 20 6'8'' 245 B+ B C- C B A LR: Unranked
Back to back Canadian nationals does this Torontonian's heart proud. Anthony Bennett is probably a defensive liability, but his offense looks like it's in good shape and he's obviously got pretty good size for a wing. t9. Nerlens Noel C 19 6'11'' 228 C+ D D+ A- B+ B LR: 7
Nerlens isn't having a bad season by any means, but he's a little further away from being the D/R stallwart that many were expecting. I expect his production will be up there with the best of them in a couple more seasons. t9. Rudy Gobert C 21 7'1'' 245 C- D+ D+ B B+ A LR: Unranked
Another of the Chicago Bulls Block Party. Rudy is averaging the most blocks of any rookie per 36 minutes and is rebounding at a good clip. These two are putting up such similar stats that I can't decide how to split them up. Previously ranked: Nate Wolters, Pierre Jackson, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Cody Zeller, Matthew Dellavedova, Solomon Hill

Final Rankings 1. Ben McLemore SG 20 6'5'' 195 B A- C B- C B LR: 1
Very strong performance from McLemore, who scored in bunches for the Sixers. He scored by far the most points of anyone in the class while putting up the 5th best FG% of any rookie who took more than 200 shots. 2. Victor Oladipo SF 21 6'4'' 218 B B- C+ A- C A LR: 4
The Heebs machine keeps churning. Oladipo turned in a strong season on both ends of the court, and will be a part of a dynamic perimeter trio in Brooklyn for years to come. 3. CJ McCollum SG 22 6'4'' 200 B- B+ C B- C B LR: 2
The second McNugget in Fason's happy meal, McCollum looks like he is capable of big things. Not sure if either will work at the SF spot, but Fason has a good problem on his hands. 4. Sergey Karasev SF 19 6'8'' 208 B B+ C C C A LR: Unranked
Jimmy Dolan unearthed a gem here with Karasev. Maybe not as efficient as you'd like, but he's got some great volume scoring. This could be Eric's first true #1 option. 5. Isaiah Canaan PG 22 6'1'' 195 B- B A- B- D+ B LR: 3
Dumptime will not be pleased to see the Software ROTY at number 5, but frankly I think this is about right looking at his production. He wasn't asked to do too much on the offensive end but distributed well and played some solid defense. 6. Giannis Antetokounmpo SF 19 6'11'' 227 B- B C+ B C+ A LR: Unranked
Point Giannis didn't shoot the rock very efficiently, but there was a lot to like about his rookie season. He rebounded well and put up some crazy big assist numbers for a SF, especially when you consider all the garbage players surrounding him in Cleveland. 7. Rudy Gobert C 21 7'1'' 245 C- D+ D+ B B+ A LR: t9
Gobert ended the season as the best of the defense/rebounding big crop. He swatted a lot of shots, rebounded well, and most importantly he didn't shoot very much. Bruns's twin towers are looking good. 8. Anthony Bennett SF 20 6'8'' 245 B+ B C- C B A LR: 8
Canadian Bacon scored well and looks well suited to his role as a SF. Even better, according the individual defense article he isn't a complete zero on that end of the court either. 9. Nerlens Noel C 19 6'11'' 228 C+ D D+ A- B+ B LR: t9
The more highly regarded big man prospect for Bruns. Noel swatted a good amount of shots, rebounded well, and put up great steals numbers as well. Just shoots a little too much at the present. 10. Brian Newell PG 19 5'7'' 150 C+ B+ C+ B D A LR: Unranked
It looks like thunder struck twice for the Nets this season, as Newell put up some good looking numbers in limited minutes. The best news is probably that he doesn't look turnover prone despite his C+ handles. Previously ranked: Gorgui Dieng, Dolph Schayes, Kelly OlynykOverall thoughts: This class turned in a great rookie season considering how bad it seemed coming in. Several good looking wing prospects, some strong defensive big men and a few impressive point guards. In previous years, Dolph and Olynyk would've been hard to keep off the list.
