So starting out tell us a little about yourself. Anything we don't know about you? How long you been in the league? Who brought you in?
There is not much that everyone here doesn't know about me. I am a pretty open person. I don't have anything to hide. I guess something interesting that not many people know is that when I was really young (6-8) I would spend a couple weeks with my grandparents and the only thing on tv was the spice channel and re-runs UF football on SunSports. So I spent my days watching porn at UF play classic games. So there was a time when I was a porn watching gator fan delinquent. So yeah, thats pretty much the only thing I haven't talked about on TMBSL. Another thing would be that my mother is/was so overprotective when I was young that she pulled me out of school for the day they talked about the birds and the bees. This was also pretty much the only time I was ever pulled from school early when it wasn't absolutely necessary.
As for when I joined the league, RW recruited me way back in January of 2012. took over for DBL after his infamous NOLA trip with no picks and Mike Bibby and Joe Johnson.
So GM Rankings, let’s talk about them. First off, what are your thoughts of being voted the worst GM? You think it’s fair? Here is your chance to shut up the haters:
The honest truth is that I don't really disagree with getting voted as the worst GM. I haven't been good in 4.0 and I don't have a good argument why I shouldn't be last. Do I think I am the dumbest/worst overall GM? Of course not, but the results speak for themselves right now. I have had a lot of lotto luck and haven't put together a title contender. Yes, I have had some bad luck with injuries/FA/TC, but the reality is, my poor results have been my own fault. On top of that, I haven't been nearly as active in 4.0 as I was in 2.0. Again, that's my own fault. However, now that my life is finally settling down, (and I have a good core) I want to be an active GM try to win. Now I need to stop being difficult to trade with.
Other than yourself, any additional thoughts about the rankings?
Overall, the rankings were very interesting. It's pretty obvious who the best GM's are, however how the middle shook out was fun to read. No real disagreements with how the rankings played out.
So personally, who are your 5 favorite GMs? 5 least favorite?
Favorite GM's? thats hard.
In no particular order,
Buster: great in shout, great GM, and overall one of the most pleasent people to deal with overall. Whether it's on Xbox Live, or Shout, Buster always makes the conversation more entertaining.
Bankz: It's funny, we are oil and vinegar whenever it comes to TMBSL stuff, but anytime we aren't talking TMBSL, Bankz and I get along great. Bankz is a very genuine person and is willing to help anyone in TMBSL at the drop of the hat. It may be sappy, but I admire that about Bankz. Still hate trying to negotiate a trade with you
Trofie: Anyone who was around early in 2.0 would think it would be crazy that trofie would end up on my favorites list, but here he is. For those who don't know, trof and I did not get along at all when I first joined. Then he invited me to his tailgate up in Nebraska and I met his GF and we have gotten along ever since. Trof is another genuine person who I am glad I met in TMBSL and IRL.
Soup: He's the commish now, and even though I drive him crazy with silly mistakes that annoy him (though I did extend Willie Lewis) Soup and I get along pretty well outside of TMBSL. When I was going through some rough personal moments, he reached out. I really appreciated that.
20x4: We don't communicate much in shout because neither of us are the most active shout GM's, but we hung out when he visited Miami and hes a good dude.
Shaun: He's one of the newer GM's but he makes the list because based on our IRL fan of's we should pretty much hate each other, however that isn't the case. Shaun and I get along really well and he is a fun guy to talk with in shout and a great addition to the league. (fuck that other OSU fan though, NEVER FORGET TERRY PORTER)
Least favorite GMs
This is going to come off like a cop out, but there aren't really any current GMs that I do not like. This isn't an attempt to avoid throwing shade, it just is what it is.
1. 2poor- This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. Pretty much the only GM I have ever dealt with who consistently couldn't separate TMBSL and IRL. Every debate between us quickly turned personal for him. He's made a lot of assumptions about me that just aren't true and I don't appreciate how he can't talk to me for 2 seconds without taking a personal shot at me. There was a brief period when I though we buried the hatchet and moved on, but that was short lived. Now I pretty much try to avoid communicating him. There are plenty of people who have different opinions whether it be sports/politics/life/whatever than I do and I get along with them just fine. It just doesn't happen that way with 2poor.
2. ZPZ- Short and simple. Pretty much the same thing as 2poor. During the short time both of us were active at the same time, any conversation turned into him trying to show everyone I was a bandwagon sports fan or some other personal attack. Just a miserable person who I don't miss in TMBSL.
3. Mops- This one is purely TMBSL related. Guy was the absolute worst to deal with. Wouldn't respond to PMs, then if he did respond, he would make ridiculous trade demands that make me look easy to deal with before showing up one day and trading an elite player to another gm for pennies. Just terrible all around.
4. Victor- This one was an interesting choice. I don't really have anything against Victor, but he seems to have a problem with me. It started in the TMB madden league last year and has pretty much continued. For whatever reason he thinks I'm an untrustworthy person or whatever. So he makes the list because for whatever reason, we are at odds here.
5. Fason- Kind of the same thing. He seems to have an issue with me for the some reason though it's nowhere near as heated as victor and Fason doesn't go personal. I respect fason's gaming skills and don't really have any personal issues with him. But he gets on the list because he loves taking shots at my luck/whatever. (Obviously I am really reaching here.)
Dishonorable mention: Heebs, my fellow attorney gets an honorable mention just because he is impossible to trade with. Other than that, he is a good guy who I'd like to meet IRL one day.
So it appears you may be ready to start making some moves in the league. Without giving up too much, what’s your plan for the next 2-3 years? Think you can compete?
Im a very cautious GM who is a homer about his own players. Obviously that is one of my flaws as a GM, and I'll try to do things differently. As for my plans, I really like how my team looks right now. Hawkeye gave me a sweetheart deal and Willie Lewis may be a really great trade piece in a year or so. Obviously I have a hole at SF but I plan on waiting a little bit to address it. Want to see how a few sims play out first.
What would you say is your worst and best moves in your GM’ing career?
Best move, uhh, not too many moves that aren't luck related that I can really take credit for in 4.0. I'd have to give myself a F in that category. I guess the best move would be trading for Lanier back when we first started. If it weren't for injuries crippling my team, I go into the playoffs as the 1 seed and probably don't get dominated by Magic in game 7 and get a chance to win a title. Obviously it didn't work out and then it all fell apart with Khalid Reeves leaving me for scat.
People seem to really be enjoying Soups run as Commish, would you agree?
Soup has been an outstanding commish. There really isn't a negative thing I can say about him. He is on top of everything and any changes he makes have been for the better of the league. No disrespect to the other commish's but soup has been the best one imo.
Another hot topic is Eric’s player creation, some people don't think he is making players, PGs especially, good enough. Where do you fall on this topic?
Everyone makes players differently. As long as there is sustained consistency, it all evens out over time and people adjust to how players are coming out of the draft. There is nobody in history who understands the software better than eric (part of the reason Ian doesn't come back around imo) and he's done a fine job making players. However, after just preseason, it seems we let eric go too far with his latest creation. The fact that it looks like Nick Diaz 2.0 is a 0/0/0 prospect makes things even more ridiculous. Either we get a superstar who runs to eric in 4 seasons, which would suck for dilworth, or we get a superstar who plays for pennies for 10+ years for dil, which sucks for everyone else. There's a difference between inflation and taylor making a player to be the best player in history. It's not good for the league to have one player who is pretty much a cheat code. Hopefully I am just overreacting to a good preseason and Epstein is just another very good/elite player in tmbsl.
Now that we got SIM League questions in, let’s get some other questions....
Obviously there is a presidential race going on, what are your thought? Are you a Trump supporter?
As pretty much everyone knows, I am a staunch conservative when it comes to economics who is also a conservative when it comes to many social issues, but really don't give a fuck about social issues when it comes to supporting a candidate. My family history makes it pretty much impossible to support a guy like Bernie. I voted for Rubio in Florida because he was the person I thought could beat Trump. As I am writing this, Trump has pretty much won the nomination due to Cruz dropping out. I will never vote for Hillary and will absolutely never vote for Bernie. As for Trump, I find him fascinating, but I don't think he knows what it takes to be president and won't vote for him. I have voted in every election since I was allowed to vote, and while I will vote in November, I will be writing in Jed Bartlett for president.
What was your best sporting event experience?
I have been unbelievably lucky when it comes to sports experiences. I have gotten to attend a super bowl (won tickets in a raffle), attend the Heat claim the title twice, and the Marlins win in 1997. Though my favorite sports memory has to be one of my own. Winning a national championship (even if it was club roller hockey) was an amazing experience and is probably the accomplishment I am most proud of.
What are your top 5 drinks of choice?
Drinks,
1: Rum, splash of coke, lime. As a Cuban, this is pretty much the go2 drink of choice.
2. Scotch on the rocks
3. Margarita (No, Margaritas are not gay)
4. Painkiller-Rum, Vodka, Pineapple Juice, Orange Juice, and Coconut Juice (yea, its a fruity umbrella drink. it's also delicious, so back off)
5. Pinapple/Coconut Rum & Pineapple juice (don't knock it until you try it.)
What’s the funniest reason you ever made up to avoid work?
Don't really have any funny reasons for missing work, because I have always worked in places where nobody really cared that you took a day off as long as your work was getting done. I did actually tell a professor I had explosive diarrhea when I was coming off a 24 hour drinking binge and was still drunk enough to to listen to my buddy tell me to send that retarded excuse.
Ugly and live forever or attractive and live for a year?
ugly and live forever. I am an overweight hispanic. I clearly don't give a fuck about appearances.
If you could have personally witnessed anything, what would it be?
Oof, this is an interesting one. Gonna go off the wall a bit and say I would have liked to have been at the wedding where jesus turned water into wine. I am not a very religious person, but to have been at the place where some guy who is purported to be the son of god do something that is considered a miracle would be pretty amazing and if he really doesn't turn water into wine, I'd have the knowledge that one of the largest religions in the world is pretty much a complete sham. Can't beat that kind of knowledge
Any final thoughts or words you want to leave people with?
I pretty much have nothing else to say other than I hope Penny fixes his turnover issues.
