As the person who setup 3.0 I know for a fact that regardless of the amount of free time no one was willing to help. Its why it failed. Its why the last attempt at a baseball leaue failed.Oh sim baseball, my first love. I put so much fuckin work into setting up the original baseball league between learning how to actually do everything, to helping multiple people set up the shit on their computers, just to watch participation struggle and be forced to leave the league myself due to work. My first post here was in the OOTP league thread. Wondering if it was still active. |

i think if we took a little time away then rebooted with a nice good old creation draft that questions our will to live we'll be happier and more invested.
Forged in adversity we will come back stronger and eventually be able to throw BK out of the league.

Just to chime in on a few things:
I am against wheel, but like Tim I would still participate
I am not sold on new software, but I think it could work if we simplified it a bit. Just playing around in the test 5.0 it seemed there was a lot to it
I would love 4.0 to last a couple more seasons for 2 reasons:
1) we can get the GMs as players in the league a couple years
2) gives us time to properly set up and get GMs lined up for 5.0

I am extremely concerned at 5.0 leasing long
New software Is going to have a big learning curve for everyone and might scare people away given the lack of current participation
Also wheel could be good, could be hated once we try it and mixed in with the above comment it could lead to a quick death
Even if the commish has a lot of hell

This is actually a pretty good point and one that should be discussed. No basketball software sims are perfect, FBB is a piece of trash but that's only because it was exposed as such. The rest of them are just as mechanically unsound under the hood, etc. If we moved to the new software because "everyone knows this" it would really only take a few months before eric released everything about the new software and we have the same problem. Thinking on this point makes me wonder if we should even move to a new software at all, especially since there seems to be hesitation among GMs that talk about "others" that would be turned off by a new software. |
