This has been discussed a ton on TMB. I think most people were willing to go the OOTP route... But either way I'm in and I will take take my Hawks there is a canada based software that looks a lot like FBB. Gonna use that.

Hmm...Will the minors be too much? haven't spent too much time on it, but I'm pretty sure its just where you stash your prospects and they either progress or don't. no management necessary other than call ups and send downs based on performance/injury

I mentioned this in shout but my two suggestions would be....
1) Start the rosters with 2015. And make the first two classes loaded ones (gretzky, Mario) and then go random. It allows teams with shitty rosters something to keep interest in the first couple of season.
2) Random the start year and random all the draft classes.
I would prefer option 1 but both I think work if you can find a roster file

Definitely going to go with two great draft classes to start to keep tankers invested. Thinking Gretzky/Orr.

You could be the Ft. Wayne Komets. I live in Ft Wayne, I have dibs. I could go Indianapolis Ice for the rivalry and give Druce the Griffins.

I saw the fifth and deciding game of the ECHL finals once, late 90s. Augusta Lynx vs somebody a lot better than the Augusta Lynx.

quick update. Played around with the software for a few minutes. There is an option to hide potential. Seems like this is a better idea than showing all grades. Don't know yet if it can be cut down to 5 Grades like TMBSL. As of now, I am not going to take a team unless you guys want ALL grades to be viewable, then it doesn't matter if I control a team or not. I am limited in what I can see because the demo just gives me the view as commissioner. This seems like it is going to happen so we need to either buy the software or someone needs to find a cracked version. Once I finally get the software, I'll have Bankz download the client (which allows people to do most roster decisions directly) and we will start playing around with it to figure out exactly how this is going to work. That is it for today.

The SimonT Hockey Simulator offers 17 different rating categories for skaters and 15 different categories for goalies which allows the program to distinguish one player's characteristics from another. To make it easier, some commissioners may opt to simplify things by merging some of the ratings.
STHS has an OV (Overall) rating category which is an indicator as to a player's skill for GMs looking at a roster page but is useless to the program and may be removed if a commissioner feels its not needed. The OV is also variable according to various options' of simulation
Below is a breakdown of the ratings STHS uses.
Roster Page - Skaters - Full Ratings
PO = Position CON = Condition IJ = Injury -- HO = Holding Out CK = Checking FG = Fighting DI = Discipline SK = Skating ST = Strength EN = Endurance DU = Durability PH = Puck Handling FO = Face Offs PA = Passing SC = Scoring DF = Defense PS = Penalty Shot EX = Experience LD = Leadership MO = Morale PO = Potential OV = Overall TA = Trade Available SP = Star Power
Roster Page - Skaters - Reduced Ratings
IT = Intensity --> Checking / Fighting / Discipline PY = Physique --> Skating / Strength / Endurance / Durability PC = Puck Control --> Puck Handling / Face Offs / Passing / Penalty Shot SC = Scoring --> Scoring DF = Defense --> Defense ME = Mental --> Experience / Leadership / Morale PO = Potential --> Potential OV = Overall --> Overall
