I would be.doing pretty well if I didny go through.3-5 phases in which I just can't stop eating. Go to bed before 3 is the best advice.

Joining a crossfit gym this week. Weighed in at 187.8 today. By far the most I've weighed. It's not a lot but to me it is.

Crossfit DC. any suggestions on other ones in the area? This one is supposed to be one of the best and is less than 50 yards from my door.

That's a good one. They're pretty barbell/strength intensive. They'll give you good, safe coaching. District Crossfit is another really good one. I worked at Crossfit Key Bridge and Crossfit South Arlington (owned by the same guy) and those are the best gyms I've ever been a part of due to the quality of coaching the fun community feel. There's a large group of ~30 yr old guys who aren't too intense about it and just give each other shit the whole time. Lots of laughs.

It's about $50/month more than DC.

After a dozen or so tries I was finally able to accomplish a 3 day fast this week and I'm quite happy about it.

i need to be more committed to this. All it takes to be better is one less bite. If you would finish the plate, leave one bite. If you would finish the bag, leave one chip. If you would finish the sandwich, leave the crust. All it takes to be better is one less bite. You can do this.

I've fallen off the wagon and gained back about 15 lbs over the last few months.
Anyone up for a TMBSL weight loss competition? Dump bucks at stake. If we have enough interest (5+ people), I'll make a thread.

If we have enough interest (5+ people), I'll make a thread. as much as i don't think this would motivate me at all, i need to do something. been eating well aside from saturdays, but for the last couple months going to the gym sounds like a good plan during the day, but when my alarm goes off that goes out the window.

Points of emphasis:
- There's no secret formula. There's no secret supplement. It all comes down to calories in vs. calories out.
- You know what you need to do to. Eat less junk, get out of breath more, repeat. It's not that hard. Don't let industry tell you any different. Be smart.
- Don't get so paranoid about whether you made it to the gym or not. Working out is helpful and necessary but diet is by far the dominant issue. You can burn 300 calories on the elliptical in 30 minutes or you can choose to not eat that snickers bar. Or you can be awesome, get on the elliptical for 30 minutes, and not eat the snickers bar.
- Consistency.
Easy tips:
- Drink more water. The easiest thing to do is cut out liquid calories (soda, tea, alcohol, etc.) That being said, don't be the weird guy who turns down a beer at a party. Just don't drink two cokes at lunch and two beers while you're watching TV by yourself.
- Water keeps your hormone levels in balance. Crazy high processed sugar (soda, tea, candy) makes your hormones spike and then bottom out which tricks your body into thinking it's hungry. That's a very brief explanation of what actually happens but that's the gist. We can talk more about this if you want.
- If you didn't workout during the day and you're sitting at home that night doing nothing, get up and do thirty seconds of lunges and thirty seconds of sit ups or a plank hold with no rest in between. Try to do that ten times with no rest for a total of ten minutes. It's only ten minutes stop making excuses. This will hurt.
- Don't go crazy with things. If you try to go from eating 4000 calories per day to 2000 calories per day your body will hate you. That's not sustainable. Be smart.
- You don't have to weigh and measure your food or count your calories. That is extremely beneficial but not necessary and for most people it's not realistic. Be smart.
